Thomas Wilkes

Tom has been playing the cello since 1996, and in that time has been a keen member of various chamber ensembles and orchestras.  These ensembles have given him the opportunity to perform in a wide variety of venues in the UK including the Purcell Room, Symphony Hall, the CBSO centre and Chatsworth House in the Peak District.

Abroad, he has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player in France, Germany, Spain and Italy.  This culminated with his string trio winning the Chamber music section of the National Festival of Music for Youth, giving them the opportunity to play at the Royal Albert Hall in 2006, just before he began his studies at the RNCM.

Up until late 2007 he was learning with Bernard Gregor-Smith (formerly of the Lindsay Quartet), he now has lessons with Jennifer Curtis.
