Jack Burge

Jack began playing the violin at the age of six. After starting lessons, it was not long before he began performing. He formed a duet with his father, playing at various venues and festivals.

Throughout the duration of his schooldays, he played in and performed with many ensembles. At the age of thirteen Jack auditioned and became a member of the Young Sinfonia, which was a Newcastle based orchestra for talented youths. At the same time he was the leader of his Area Schools Orchestra.

When Jack was fifteen he began studying with Bradley Creswick, the leader of the Northern Sinfonia. After a few years of intense preparation, he auditioned and won a place to study at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied under Steve Wilkie and Mark Knight.

Jack had always played the guitar as a hobby but soon realised that it was the instrument he preferred. After a year at the RNCM, he left to pursue other opportunities to gain experience. Jack found a job in the music industry working for ‘Sounds Live’, a music retailer in Newcastle. He then taught guitar for a short while before moving on to work for JHS & CO ltd, a music merchandise distributor based in Leeds.

Jack has worked with many bands, playing many styles of music and now enjoys playing with the Jazz quartet, where he pursues his ambition to perform again
