Biography: Finlay Panter

Finlay Panter is a freelance jazz drummer living in Manchester. He works with various different artists and groups encompassing styles from jazz-funk to drum and bass. He also teaches drum kit and orchestral percussion in local schools.

Finlay began to study percussion at the age of 8, and discovered his fascination for the drum kit at 16 playing for a heavy metal band. Finlay wanted to pursue his studies further, taking him to the Royal Northern College of Music. He graduated in July 2007 having studied with Dave Hassell and Ian Wright.

Presently he sees himself embarking on a wide ranging journey, trying to explore all the technical possibilities and styles of music. Finlay enjoys immersing himself in the creative aspects of music and is always looking for something new to incorporate into his playing.
